Gaper

A pill is taken to hide the broken parts. Its effects will wear off and while unaware of the damage it concealed a short sharp pang of agony reminds us that it is time for another pill. So we live our lives running from what is, in the hope that all may be better in a near future. Our medicines do not heal they help us run. Our drugs do not open our minds, they help us fantasize and build beliefs. We tamper with our chemistry in the name of knowledge and the pursuit of happiness. We modify our beings to conform or to be different without realizing that it is our differences that make us one in the same. We dread the feeling of emptiness and dedicate our lives to filling a void that may just be there for a reason. What lesson can be learned from this? Maybe it is not the void that disturbs but the physical that frames it.
